Savannah
is known as the 'Hostess City of the South'
with a beautiful historic downtown area and home of a
major import/export seaport on the east coast.
Savannah has hundreds and hundreds of miles of water ways
within the Chatham County area. However, little is known about
the abundent and excellent fishing all year round from the
main Savannah River (which flows from Augusta, Ga down to
the ocean) to the Wilmington River and Bull River. South of
that is the Vernon River, Little Ogeechee River and the Big
Ogeechee River emptying
into what is known as Ossabaw Sound.
Fishing
Savannah you will enjoy miles of Intercoastal
Waterways (The ICW is a deep channel bordered by
shallow mud flats extending 15 to 30 feet out from
shore) Also, creek mouths, shell beds, sloughs and
marshed-lined banks point to miles of great fishing along
the ICW.
The
Sound area also holds a great variety of all types of
fishing. We have deep channels with shallow flats that
hoist everything from Bass, Trout, Flounder, Triple Tail,
Cobia, Tarpon, Spanish Mackeral and Kings.
Here
is a listing of some of the different species that
are available to catch in the area.
